I am hoping that today’s cards refer to the world community pulling together in response to the world financial crisis, and that there isn’t some other crisis popping up in the news today (I haven’t looked at the news yet as I write this). These cards could be interpreted in a negative way, that there might be some melodrama surfacing in world news today (and this is the second time in the last few days that I’ve seen cards come up that related to potentially negative world events), but I would rather focus on the Major Arcana card here: The World, and its positive aspects. The world is vulnerable, as vulnerable as the naked woman on this card, to catastrophic events, but the flip side of that is that our world has a tremendous capacity to come back together after negative events.
But what if we interpret these cards at the level of an individual? Think about how The World and the Ten of Swords are really the same. The Ten of Swords has to do with endings (albeit negative ones) and new beginnings. Isn’t it true that sometimes a melodramatic negative ending leads to a new beginning that is more than we could ever have hoped for, a whole new world of possibilities? If this is true for you today, try to focus on that new world of possibilities, and release the drama.
I got the 10 of Swords today too! And your reading told the story of my day very well, although the world event was just in our Little League world. Lots of kids feeling that 10 of Swords energy after finding out they didn’t make All Stars. But we got together and turned it around into the World.

Think you’ve hit the nail on the head with the new beginnings interpretation. We are all letting go of that which no longer serves us. Lots of room for wonderful new changes!
