Sometimes You Can’t Win for Losing — So Switch Paradigms

You know the days that I’m talking about. Even when you win it doesn’t feel like a win (Five of Swords, reversed Six of Wands). Do you see the battle that has taken place on the Five of Swords card? But somehow the victory wreathes aren’t satisfying. They weren’t what we really wanted.

What we really want is something more satisfying — love — and for that, we have to let go of the whole paradigm of winners and losers. The old cliche is true: it’s not whether you win or lose; it’s how you play the game.

If you are fighting with someone you love, ask yourself: is what matters the underlying issue for this fight? or is the thing that matters our love for each other?

I like the reversed angel on the reversed Lovers card — it suggests that as so often is the case, healing energy may come from below — from the Earth itself, through grounding.
