Self-Worth Doesn’t Come From a Relationship — Not Even From Being a Parent — But From Within

It’s always a little sad to see the Lovers reversed, but at least they are still together — and they have something to tell us. No matter how much we may love another person, no matter how much we may be meant to be with another person, even if it’s such a blessed relationship that angels are watching over us — even then, our own self-worth has to come from within.

If it doesn’t — if we have made our self-worth out of the reflection of ourselves in our lover’s eyes — there will come a day when there is some uncertainty. Depression and self-doubt will set in.

It is not an act of disloyalty to a lover (or to a child, for that matter) to go away and spend time alone, like the Hermit,

looking with a lantern to find out who you truly are. At some point, all lovers must and do separate in this manner. It doesn’t mean that they are no longer in love — it just means that each needs to take time to find his/her mission in life, and fulfill it — time to find the vibration that feels best and work at that level. (I’ve been listening to Abraham – Hicks lately — can you tell?)

While we are apart from our lovers, we have time to tend to our inner gardens, like the woman on the Nine of Pentacles card. We have time to talk to our spirit guides. We have time to find our inner abundance and autonomy, our independence to go with our interdependence, so we know what we truly have to offer our lovers and the world.

Yes, parting is such sweet sorrow, but it offers us a door that we must go through if we are to move ahead on our paths.
